Theo Walkies Cap
This is a free pattern. In exchange, please consider making a donation to your local animal shelter to help more animals find their forever homes.
Theo was my good friend’s exuberant, rambunctious and joyful black Labrador who never met a stranger. My puppy and Theo grew up together and spent many long walks with us, their humans, enjoying the foothills and creeks on our rambles. He will always hold a special place in my heart and we all miss him very much. This hat is in honor of Theo and his endless delight in going for walkies.
Because not everyone enjoys a long cap, I’ve written the pattern in two lengths. The long cap begins with trees dusted with snow, followed by dog nose prints and ending with a more traditional star. The short cap features the trees, ending with a star on the crown.
Both caps fit an average adult head sizes (19-24”)
Long cap: 16” from brim to crown
Short cap: 10” from brim to crown
This is an untested pattern. Please feel free to DM me if you find any mistakes or have questions.
- Knit in the round on circular or DPNs from the bottom up; from the brim to the crown.
- Both caps worked from charts; read all chart rows from right to left.
- Chart stitch pattern is a 21-stitch repeat; by adding/removing repeats you can alter the size or change the size by going up or down a needle size. This will affect the circumference and quantity of yarn used.
- Pattern is charted with written instructions.
- Can finish with tassel or pompom.
