“In a hole in the ground there lived a hobbit. Not
a nasty, dirty, wet hole, filled with the ends of
worms and an oozy smell, nor yet a dry, bare,
sandy hole with nothing in it to sit down on or to
eat: it was a hobbit-hole, and that means
comfort.”
― J.R.R. Tolkien, The Hobbit
This shawl is a relaxing knit with an easy to memorize repeat and is constructed assymetrically, however the last section balances this shawl back out to almost symetrical shaping, which allows the knitter to blissfully knit until it’s time to bind off. The squishy garter body allows a meditative zen while the border is just enough to hold interest.
All the photos of the original shawl were taken at The Sandpiper, a gift and yarn shop in Bridgeman MI
