These slippers are knitted from heel to toe, in the round, featuring a simple motif with elongated slipped stitches on the top of the foot and i-cord edge around the foot opening. The slippers are worked with Aran weight yarn at a fairly tight gauge to ensure durability.
YARN AND YARDAGE:
Aran weight to achieve gauge. The sample is made with Plotulopi from Istex (100 g - 300 m / 328 yards) held double
70 (85) 100 grams of Plotulopi OR approx. 130 (155) 180 meters / 142 (170) 197 yards of Aran weight yarn
YARN SUBSTITUTIONS:
You can make these slippers with any kind of yarn and this pattern is great for using up those awkward skeins lingering in your stash. If you are using non-sock yarn and worried about durability, you could always add a strand of silk or nylon mohair / alpaca - it will make the slippers extra cozy and way more durable. The slip stitch pattern will be best visible when using single-coloured yarn or yarn with long colour gradients
SIZES:
1 (2) 3 equivalent to 40 (44) 48 sts. When choosing the size please consider that your slippers need to fit with a negative ease of around 10%. Length of the slippers can be easily adjusted.
Finished slipper foot circumference: 18 (20) 22 cm / 7.25 (8) 8.75 inches after washing and light blocking.
GAUGE:
22 sts / 30 rnds per 10 cm / 4 inches in stockinette in the round after washing and light blocking
NEEDLES:
3 mm / US 2.5 circular needles for magic loop or other to achieve gauge in stockinette in the round. You can adapt this pattern to use DPNs or 6 inch circular needles
Please note that needle size is just a suggestion, you might need to change the size of your needles to achieve gauge.
NOTIONS:
