There's No Place Like Home
The inspiration for this shawl project was the colour. The Knit Cafe collaborated with the wonderful hand dyer Lichen and Lace to create a colour called Emerald City for our Yarn Club 2016. The colour was so fresh and pretty it deserved to become a shawl that exemplified these qualities and so the “There’s No Place Like Home” was born. There are two versions of the project; a Shawl and a Shawlette. Both are comprised of an easy, breezy, polka dot lace stitch that is knit on the bias for extra stretch and drape. The shawl then continues with a garter stitch border elegantly shaped with short rows. There is a tutorial in the pattern that explains this short row shaping method. The shawlette is kept sweet and simple and skips the border. Both are finished off with a darling picot bind off. Adorable!
We think Dorothy would be very pleased to have this shawl to remind her of home while she is off adventuring and perhaps you will too.
