I wanted a big, snuggly shawl for morning meditation, and realized that the “meditation” can be found in every stitch. And that’s where this shawl began it’s journey from a tangle of thoughts and yarn to a warm hug of wool.
So I picked up my knitting as if I was settling into my practice; I set an intention, focused on my breath, and repeated my chosen mantra in every stitch; “I am whole”. Simple. We use our knitting to soothe our anxieties and create self-care rituals, so why not use every stitch to help us go deeper?
So, I invite you to set your intention as you cast on (something in positive language such as “I am healthy” or “I am happy”), and repeat this phrase to yourself 3 times every time you pick up your knitting. As the habit grows, and you’ll start to feel the positivity seep into your life as your stitches grow!
May you find peace in every stitch, and every step, of your life.
The Details: This shawl is an asymmetrical triangle, worked side to side, with a meandering lacey design, broken up by simple reverse stockinette sections. Fully charted and written, and designed with the adventurous, mindful knitter in mind.
