Thisaway
No purling, no grafting, no long cast on or bind off, no cutting colors for each stripe
Just relaxing garter stitch and an unusual (but easy) construction method
Borrowing a technique from sock knitting, this shawl uses a variation on an afterthought or peasant heel to shoot stripes off in different directions. This video tutorial will walk you through the basics of those techniques, as well as the adaption used in this design.

Span: 62 (74, 86, 98) inches
Height at center: 28 (33, 39, 44) inches
GAUGE (after blocking)
24 sts/36 rows = 4 inches in garter stitch
MATERIALS
Fingering weight yarn: 315 (437, 590, 762) yds each in two contrasting colors
Size 1 shown in: West 7th Wool Hunter’s Sock (70% merino, 30% nylon; 437yds/400m per 100g skein); 1 (1, 2, 2) skeins each in Dorian (A) and Shade Shifter (B)
US #3/3.25mm circular needle, 24 inches long
Circular needle 1-2 sizes smaller than main needle (optional, for picking up stitches)
Tapestry needle
1 locking stitch marker
Waste yarn – approx. 3 yds, smooth, plied, fingering weight
