This shawl was created as a response to the challenge from the Colourmart group for the Summer 2010 contest. While it didn’t win anything, there were so many people emailing to find out if there was a pattern available I wrote it up and here it is for your crocheting pleasure!

It is a cross between a semi-circular shawl and a “winged” shawl, worked from the neck down so that the points curve around your shoulders. It is blocked to open up the lacework and to set the points of the edging.

Beads are applied to give a special sparkle and to add drape. Approx 40g of seed beads are required (depending on the quality - some seed bead companies produce quite a few duds in their packages which need to be discarded).

The written pattern includes instructions for US terms and UK terms over several pages so that you can print out the pages you want rather than the whole thing. There are several pages going into how to work the stitch pattern with a page devoted to explaining the stitch in UK terms and a page for US terms, advice on yarn substitution, and links to advice on beading from the many expert sources on the internet who have already written great tutorials.
