Thormungandr Brioche Infinity Scarf
Just thought of 3 things I won’t be able to update until next week: (1) the chart is read from right to left for ALL rows, (2) after each brk row in color B always bring the yarn to the front before you turn so it doesn’t cross over a brLX, and (3) there is one brRX and one brLX in row 1a that will use a stitch that doesn’t have a yarn over but tells you to brk so just knit it instead
This is a reversible, 2 color brioche infinity scarf. I was trying to go for 1 side braids and the other side serpent scales to represent Thor and Jormungandr (Spoiler: they kill each other in Norse Mythology during Ragnarok).
You will need about 250 yards of each color. DK yarn us weird; I used 8 ply which feels skinnier than the 4 ply I’ve used. If you get the yarn from Viking Fiber Co and your gauge is close to mine, you’ll only need 1 of each skein of the Vik DK 8 ply.
Specific yarn I used:
Color A - Loki’s Serpent on Vik DK
Color B - Thor’s Beard on Vik DK
Gauging really isn’t that important. As long as you’re happy with the width after a couple rows of cabling, you’re fine.
Skills needed that I do not provide instructions for (easy to find tutorials on YouTube, but not sure if I am allowed to link other artists videos):
Provisional Crochet Cast On
2 color brioche knitting
Grafting 2 color brioche.
I have written instructions for how I do brioche cables, but you might want to look up brRX and brLX on YouTube to see other methods.
I’ll try to make tutorials for my Instagram and maybe start a YouTube later, but I’m flying to and fro this weekend and want to post in case I die (flying is scary).
Hasn’t been tested and I’m still new to this. I am posting the CHART for free on my Instagram page, so if you don’t want to risk your dollar, no hard feelings. You can just use the free chart. Will update this section if somebody successfully makes it (and will be making an account for that tester website soon)
