Thought Bubble Hat
The stitch count given in this pattern {using the stated yarn} will fit a variety of sizes, depending on needle size. Suggestions are made for increasing stitch count, using different needle sizes, and working with thicker yarns. The pattern is only limited by your own efforts.
The small zig-zag rib is very stretchy, extremely easy to work, and can be adapted to other accessories if you wish, mitts, socks.
The crown decreases are made at four equidistant points in the pattern, showing a cross effect on completion. After you have made a beanie using this pattern, I’m sure you’ll be thinking of other yarns and sizes which you can work to suit your own needs.
I have made the hat working from crown increases down to the ribbing, but feel coming up from the bottom and working crown decreases gives a more pleasing finish, so I have not included top-down increase instructions.
The pattern is being tested, for various yarn choices. Using much thicker yarn will of course yield hats to fit adult sizes. If you feel the need for a DK child’s version, by all means try, using less stitches.
As always, I must thank my fellow knitting friend yarnymama for her continued support and enthusiasm, as well as her editing and layout help/advice. I could not offer what I feel is a presentable document without her expertise.
