Thought Foxes Wrist Warmers
Discontinued.
This digital pattern is no longer available online.
These wrist warmers feature Latvian braid edging and a peasant thumb.
They’re made in the round on 3.25mm DPNs. I used the following yarns:
- Jamieson’s of Shetland Spindrift (4ply) pure Shetland wool in ‘Shetland Black’ (shade 101), 1 x 25g ball and ‘Burnt Umber’ (shade 1190), 1 x 25g ball
- 50g of a natural white standard tension 4ply wool. I used a local yarn, Dora’s Shetland Wool. This can be susbstituted for any other standard 4ply, for instance Jamieson’s or one produced locally to you.
The finished gloves are 16cm long and 10cm wide, if knitted to tension.
The pattern’s name is taken from the poem ‘The Thought-Fox’ by Ted Hughes, which I discovered just after I’d finished knitting up the design. It’s about the creative inspiration that comes from wildness and I thought it was fitting for my fox designs, which are the first of a number I’ve been working on, all inspired by my love for the natural world.
If you like the foxes, have a look at the co-ordinating hat pattern in my Ravelry store!
