Thousand Smiles Cardigan
Construction: The cardigan is knitted flat and top down seamlessly in one piece including all the edgings. It features a V-neck neckline and buttons in front. No finishing, except sewing the buttons on the previously-marked locations is required. Front and neckline edgings are created as you go!
Sizing: The cardigan is meant to be worn with 0-5 cm (0-2 inches) of positive ease. The sizes below correspond to the measurements of the cardigan after blocking.

Gauge: 19 sts * 32 rows in the textured stitch pattern after wet-blocking = 10 cm* 10 cm (4 inch * 4 inch).
Yarn choice: 1 strand of fingering-weight/sock yarn (400m in 100g) held together with one strand of lace-weight mohair (210-225m in 25g).
Hand-dyed colorful yarns are best-suited for this texture. Thanks to the texture of the cardigan, the color variations of the yarn can create a mysterious effect without giving it a patchy look. The accompanying mohair thread contributes to providing a “background fluff” to pull all the colours together and create a coherent fabric throughout.
Required yarn amount: The yarn requirements below are approximates of the minimum amount. To prevent stress, please ensure to have extra yarn than the minimum amounts.
Required meters of each yarn (m): 750- 800- 850- (900- 950- 990)- 1000- 1080- 1100- (1170- 1200- 1270)- 1320- 1370- 1420-(1490- 1550- 1600)- 1650

Recommended needle: Circular or straight needle 3.5 mm (US 4) for the main body; circular or straight needle 3 mm (US 2.5) for casting on, circular or double-pointed needle 4 mm (US 6) for the sleeves (in case you knit the small round circumferences tighter), otherwise circular or double-pointed needle 3.5 mm (US 4) for the sleeves.
Please kindly note that based on your yarn and your personal knitting tension, the needle size(s) that you would need to achieve the required gauge might be different from the suggested ones. Testers have used 3.5mm or 3.75mm to reach the gauge.
Notions: 9 or more buttons, cables/cords to put the sleeve stitches on hold, tapestry needle, removable stitch markers in different colours (and ideally different shapes), and one unique stitch marker!
