> Three Color Modular Hat
Three Color Modular Hat
This had is knit with three colors. Two of the three colors are used in the ten square modules that make up a portion of the body of the hat. The other color or a combination of the three colors can be used for the ribbing or the top of the hat.
Modular knitting is a technique of knitting small shapes, usually geometric, and combining them together to make a larger knitted item. The shaping is done with a double decrease involving the center three sts of the square on each right side row until just 1 st remains. Then sts for the next square are picked up along the edge of the garter ridges. This is repeated for a total of 10 squares.
Directions are for small and large adult but it could very easily be adjusted to make a child’s hat by knitting one fewer module. The number of cast on sts would then have to be adjusted as well.
