Three Knitted Bedspreads
The old fashioned knitted bedspread is having a revival of popularity and appears in many artistic homes. It is peculiarly suited to the cloister-like bedroom which hygiene and the instinct for simplicity in art have made popular, and its purity of pattern adds beauty and at the same time maintains the general tone of the room.“
The bedspread is knitted in squares, starting at one corner and increasing until the row crossing the centre diagonally has been knitted, and then decreased.
MATERIALS: No. 12 Strutt’s 3 thread knitting cotton, a pair of No. 14 steel knitting needles.
Editor note: No gauge is given. The bedspread could be knitted in any yarn with appropriate needles.
The pattern includes some old-fashioned abbreviations such as N (narrow by knitting two together) and O (increase by yarn over hook).
While the pattern is called “Three Knitted Bedspreads” the newspaper article only contains instructions for one.
