This Shawl/Wrap came about because I wanted to learn more about Orenburg lace. I had knitted a couple of scarfs and wanted to expand on that. So I pulled out some charts, did some rearranging, etc., to hopefully get the look I wanted. And this is what I came up with.

Sorry it is still on the “pins” in these pictures, but need to have a sunny day to take outside pictures. And here in Washington State this time of year that does not happen frequently.

Yes, I am doing another design!

I used Mary Lou’s Cone Yarn, a (2) weight, approximately 1300 yards on (US) Size 3 needle. Use whatever yarn you want to use! And use comparable needles. But try not to use a needle that will give an “airy” effect. This takes away from the pattern.

The lace designs on this are patterned either every other row, two rows one right after the other, or three rows in order. Not as confusing as it sounds.

The pattern is fully charted and fully written out. And let me tell you, 510 rows are a lot! So much easier to chart it, but I totally understand folks wanting to have it written out. It all works.

If you have never turned a corner on a lace edge, you will get to do it four times on this project. But, fear not! It is fully written out.

I started the bottom border with a provisional cast on so I would not need to hunt and search to find the stitches when it came time to turn that corner. I highly recommend it. Makes it so much easier.

And yes, you turn the corners using short rows, but, really, it is easy.

This pattern is currently being tested by a number of knitters on Knitting Paradise. That being said, it is a free pattern and if anyone does find any errors, please do not hesitate to contact me. I would appreciate it very much.

Thanks for taking the time to read this and consider my pattern. I did put a lot of thought and effort into it. But since it is my first Orenburg imitation I did not want to charge for it. So enjoy this gift from me!

Over all measurement gently blocked is 70 inches long by 31 inches wide.

Thank you fellow knitters.
