This is a good pattern for beginners -- it’s simple without being boring, and can be made as large or as small as you want. The yardage shown is for the shawl in the photos -- you’ll need less for a smaller shawl, more for a larger one.

The finished size of the shawl shown is 26” long at the center and 49” wide across the top. It used 416 yards of yarn.

Although I have included a gauge for the yarn I used, gauge is not important for this pattern -- it can be knitted with any weight of yarn, with any size needle. I recommend using a needle at the upper range of the suggested needles for the yarn you’re using.
