Throckley Scarf
A locale name from my childhood comes along as my first knit scarf pattern.
Throckley is a unisex scarf knit flat in an easy-to-repeat pattern. It is smart looking and works well in sport or worsted weight yarns.
The vertical repeats are formed using an Alternating Knotted Rib, sometimes termed Flagon Stitch. A Photo Tutorial is included.
The central pattern, a repeat of 6 stitches, can expand readily for a wider man’s version.
DK or Sport weight yarns use about 180-175 meters (200-300 yards) for an adult scarf. Worsted weight, 225-365 meters (up to 400 yards). Wool, wool blend or acryic yarns are all appropriate. Gauge and size are not crucial.
Options are easy to incorporate, such as color blocks in the rib pattern or added fringe.
