What was that shape moving through the trees?

Featuring a colorwork chart inspired by that iconic frame from the long-contested Patterson-Gimlin footage, an easy short row heel, and a basic cuff-down construction, this pattern is perfect for seasoned sock knitters and beginners alike!

Materials:
Needles: Size US 1 (2.25mm) needles in either 9” (22 cm) circulars, 32” (81 cm) circulars, or DPNs. I used 9” circulars for most of the sock and DPNs for the toe.

Yarn: Approx. (255, 285, 315) yds/(235, 260, 290)m/(60, 65, 70)g of fingering weight yarn for MC and (13, 14, 16)yds/(12, 13,14)m/(3, 4, 5)g for CC. Green sample was made in Shield Sock from Painted Fern Fiber Co (437/100g) in the colorways Thicket for the MC and By the Fire for the CC.

Notions: BOR Marker, 1 stitch marker to mark halfway for heel and toe, tapestry needle for grafting toe
