Merriam Webster defines a throughline as “a common or consistent element or theme shared by items in a series or by parts of a whole.” Sometimes that theme exists in a novel or movie; sometimes it exists in our lives.

In our lives, there are pieces that follow us through our years. They shift and morph, go dormant for a time and then blossom into focus again, grounding and inspiring me all at once. They are part of the larger story of us. Like the subtle lines that connect the sections of the Throughlines Wrap, these threads make each of us who we are, unique and beautiful and part of a greater whole.

Throughlines is knit in one piece from end to end. A central double decrease and a pair of edge increases on right-side rows form its right angles. This construction creates a chevron shape that makes the finished piece more eye-catching than you’d expect from the straightforward stitches.

When it comes to choosing colors, consider Throughlines a blank canvas on which to play. Bands of colorful lace in two complementary motifs are set off by garter-stitch dividers. Its geometric lace can handle variegation, the length and width are easy to alter, and you can use as many colors as there are sections, if that’s what you’d like to do. All in all, Throughlines is a fun and flashy (but not too difficult) knit with lots of room for individual creativity to shine through.
