Throwing stars, also known as shurikens, are part of kung fu training. The original, metallic versions don’t make very good toys, obviously, but these plush ones are epic fun! Great for scraps—you can even use yarn scraps to stuff them.

Materials

Berroco Vintage (50% acrylic, 40% wool, 10% nylon; 217 yds / 198m per 100g skein)

• MC: 18 yds per star
• CC1: 9 yds per star
• CC2: 9 yds per star

One sample uses Crimson as MC, Cracked Pepper as CC1, and Mochi as CC2. The other sample uses Cracked Pepper as MC, Mochi as CC1, and Crimson as CC2.

US #5 / 3.75mm needles for small-circumference circular knitting: dpns, long circular for magic loop, or two circulars, as you prefer

Fiberfill or yarn scraps to stuff the shurikens
About 2 yds of worsted-weight cotton waste yarn
Yarn needle

Gauge Note

For this project, exact gauge is much less important than knitting a dense fabric. You do not want the stuffing showing through.
