Thrummed Cap
This shaggy wool cap, or ‘Thrummed cap’, was often worn by working men and English sailors. Made with short scraps of yarn, or ‘thrums’, when felted these caps offered warmth and resistance from the cold sea air.
Revised by Jackie Fee for Plimoth Plantation with kind permission of the Weavers’ Guild of Boston.
