I’m from one of the most northern countries of the world and as Thule means the northernmost part of the habitable ancient world, I thought it was a suitable name for this chunky weight cozy pullover. I knitted the original Thule already three winters ago and for those past three winters it has been my go-to sweater during coldest seasons.

The Thule pullover is knitted seamlessly top-down starting at the neckband. The neckband is knitted straight in Stockinette stitch so it rolls beautifully into a round collar. The yoke increases are carefully scattered to create a subtle and minimalistic detail that expands over the whole yoke. The sleeves and body are separated at the underarm and knitted separately.

The back is shaped with optional German short-rows to give it a bit more length and to improve the fit. The short-rows are worked after separating the body and sleeves and at the hem. You can choose to work both short-row sections (more slope at hem and better fit at back), only one of the short-row sections (less slope at hem and good fit at back) or no short-rows at all (no slope, straight fit). Needles
5.5 mm / US9 DPNs or a circular needle with a cable suitable for small circumference knitting for cuffs
