Thyme Beanie
This is a great pattern for a beginner crocheter. If you can slip stitch, single crochet, and double crochet then you should be able to make this. This hat would make a great gift for a new baby or it would work really well at the craft fair.
You will need 1 to 2 ounces of yarn to complete this project. I used Red Heart Super Saver to make these hats and they turned out great. Sizes included in this pattern are 0-3 months, 3-6 months, and 6-12 months.
2 hook sizes were used in this pattern. I used and H/5mm hook to work the hat band, and an I/5.5mm to work the hat body. My stitch height in the hat band is ~1/4” so if your stitches are shorter than that then go up a hook size.
Other materials needed to make hat:
-H/5.00mm hook for hat band; I/5.5mm hook for hat body
-yarn needle for sewing in ends
-scissors
-tape measure
-pom pom maker (optional)
Pattern notes:
-I crochet on the tighter side so be sure to measure your stitch height! For the hat band my sc stitch height is ~¼”. So if your stitch height is less than that, then I would suggest going up a hook size. If your stitch height is larger, then I would try going down a hook size.
-ch 1 in the hat body does not count as a stitch
-The measurements provided in this pattern are based on average head sizes.
