This super-simple hat was designed to show off the yarn and create a lightweight yet warm and cosy hat that you can barely feel when you’re wearing it and will stuff in a pocket when you need to take it off. Actually I just wanted it for hiking with really. And I know 1x1 ribbing is a pain to do but I really wanted a brim of clingy fabric so that it’s less likely to blow off in the wind. Coniston Fingering is a singles yarn with mohair in which is designed to emulate the fabric you get when you hold 2ply or 4ply double with a fluffy laceweight mohair. Use a smooth 4ply if you prefer.

Yarn

Eden Cottage Yarns Coniston Fingering (360m/ yds per 100g skein)

Needles and Accessories

2.75mm needles suitable for working at a fairly small circumference.

Suggestions: DPNs, Addi CrasyTrio or similar, a long circular for magic loop, or a 30-40cm circular needle. The 40cm might feel slightly too small.
