This is a time when racism in all its horrors is staring us all in the face and we need to address it in our own ways, most notably by examining it in ourselves.

The Gros Morne colour way from the Canada 150 National Parks Collection, by Fleece Artist, inspired the Tickle Inn Scarf pattern.

I visited the fantastic Tickle Inn at Cape Onion, Nfld only once but it and the magnificent Gros Morne Park remain travel highlights. Alas, for Newfoundland travellers, the Tickle Inn has reverted to a family home.

The easy, textured stitch pattern produces a wonderfully squishy and warm scarf that looks good on both sides. The stitch pattern is worked on a larger needle than the ball band states in order to produce the desired texture. The stitch pattern is both written and charted.

The Tickle Inn Scarf edge technique creates a finish-free, rounded edge that suits the stitch pattern exceptionally well. This pattern produces a long scarf, 74” long, but it’s easy to reduce the length by limiting the number of 4 row repeats.

Handpainted yarns are a wonderful choice for this scarf but solids, especially kettle dyed, will work well, too.
