This scarf is worked from the bottom up, starting with an easy-to-memorise lace stitch pattern and shaped with short rows. Use a stretchy cast-on method and then cast off tightly to form the gentle crescent shape. When worked to pattern tension of 24 sts and 42 rows to 4” (10cm) measured over garter stitch after blocking, the finished scarf measures 10” (25.5cm) deep at the centre and 45” (114.5cm) along the curved top edge.

The pattern used both charted and written instructions. It is NOT necessary to work from charts in order to make this scarf.

You will need:
400 yards (365m) fingering weight yarn
3.75mm (US 5) knitting needles
2 stitch markers
Darning needles (for sewing in ends)

You need to be able to: work simple lace from either charted or written instructions using common increases and decreases (YO, SSK, K2tog), work garter stitch short rows (these are explained in the pattern)
