Knitted lace shawls have become a popular choice for knitters. We’re all making them, enjoying learning about their traditions and using classic shapes and techniques. I was thinking about alternative shapes when I saw a shawl in an accessories shop that was sewn from silk organza in two sections, with the lower segment gathered onto the top. This pattern is my interpretation of that shape. It swings from your shoulders with graceful gathers adding a sense of drama. It’s knit top down in a silk blend yarn that drapes beautifully. The shawl is edged with a simple garter stitch border. The lace pattern is a relatively simple one to learn and is worked in 3 variations from charts.
