The Tiger Lily Jacket uses many traditional Nordic knitting techniques and then goes a bit beyond with some especially interesting finishing touches. This design is suitable for advanced knitters who are familiar with both stranded knitting and steeks and are interested in learning Mary Ann’s exquisite covered steek finishing method.

Pattern Includes charts and instructions for knitting the jacket shown below in ladies’ sizes medium, large or extra large. Jacket is oversized, with the following finished measurements: chest circumference = 41 5/8” (47 5/8”,53 5/8”); body length = 25 5/8” (27 1/4”, 28 5/8”); midneck to cuff = 28 5/8” (31 5/8, 34 5/8)

The main portion of the jacket is knit on a US 4 (3.50mm) circular needle. The US 3 (3.25mm) is for the ribbing. The US 7 (4.50mm) circular is used ONLY for picking up steek stitches. Pattern recommends 3 x main US 4 (3.50mm)needles (for working steek covers); 2 x main needles will do, but it’s easier with 3. Pattern also suggests dpns in the main and ribbing sizes; feel free to use your circulars in the “magic loop” method to avoid the dpns. As always, use WHATEVER size main needle gets you the correct gauge. Once you know your gauge needle size, use a needle 1 size smaller for the ribbing, and a needle 3 sizes larger for the steek pick-up.
