Tiger Scarf
A quick and simple fun scarf to knit.
Like his mate the lion, this little tiger is made so he can hold his tail in his mouth – handy for keeping in place around your neck.
He is all in knit stitch – no purls – and he uses simple increases and decreases.
You don’t need to be an expert knitter to make this!
The scarf is made in a yarn of DK (8 ply) or worsted (10 ply) thickness – look for one that has about 180 – 200 m / 195 – 220 yds to 100 gms.
You will need:
orange x 70 gms /130 m
black x 30 gms/55 m
cream x 8 gms/15 m for chin
1 pair 4.5 mm (US 7) needles
tapestry needle for sewing, a few safety pins
a pair of 18 mm sew-on “joggle” eyes (but not for children aged less than 3 years)
Tiger measures about 90 cm/35” long from nose to tail tip,13 cms/5” wide in the body. He is made mainly for children but will fit an adult too – add more rows if you wish.
