Tiled Steps is a toe up sock perfect for variegated yarns. The elongated slip stitch pattern breaks up pooling and highlights the various colors present in the yarn. There is some cabling in order to make the slipped stitches move across the fabric. Because of the nature of these cables, this is a good pattern to learn how to cable without a cable needle.

Materials
• 400 yds/365m sock yarn. Sample shown in Knitting Rose Yarns Budding (90% wool, 10% bison; 400yds/100g) in Iroquois
• US sz 1/2.50mm, or size needed to obtain gauge, dpns or circular(s)
• yarn needle for weaving in ends

Gauge
8 sts and 11 rows per 1”/2.5 cm in stockinette in the round

Sized to fit 7 8, 9“/18 20.5, 23cm instep circumference

Notes
• A table is provided to help you get the perfect length foot by using your actual row gauge in either inches or centimeters. After you have worked about half the foot, measure how many rows you have per inch or cm and put this number in the second row of the table for the size you are working. Then divide the given number by your row gauge number to determine how much length the heel and gusset will take.
• When working two Make 1 Elongated stitches in a row, both increases are worked through the same bar, but the second one is worked through the back of the loop.
