You will need to already be comfortable with the BLsc / FLdc technique of mosaic crochet worked from a chart and also foundation single crochet

Several weeks into lockdown and I needed a project which required some concentration. I had in my mind the effect of an entirely mismatched collection of ceramic tiles - but it turns out I’m not so good at ‘random’ and despite my best efforts there are a number of repeating themes throughout the design …

The piece is worked in rows from the bottom up.

‘What about all the ends?’ I hear you cry. Well I have a cunning plan for them – in fact there are no ends whatever apart from starting and finishing tails, ball ends and whatever colour changes you wish to introduce.

The main chart is for the entire piece, no repeats. In addition to this I have provided separate charts for each individual square so you can do your own thing with placemats, mug rugs, cushion covers etc. You are welcome to reassemble these into a new, larger, design of your own making but bear in mind that there needs to be one row/column of Light ‘grouting’ between each for them to fit together - and probably one at each edge as well.
