Tilted Hat
This hat is worked in the round from the bottom up, with an easy-to-memorize slanting lace pattern suitable for new lace knitters.
If you like your hats to fit snugly, go down half a size for the needle used for the bottom band. As written, the hat is not a hair crusher!
Fully reversible, the knit side shows the clean, crisp lines of well defined stitches, while the purl side gives a more softly textured effect.
In the photos shown here, the red hat has the knit side out, and the beige hat has the purl side out.
The hat can also be blocked for different looks: the red hat (worked in a rougher worsted wool) has been slightly blocked for slouch, and the beige hat (worked in a smoother light worsted wool) has been blocked over a plate for more of a beret shape.
