I read somewhere that classic baby blankets had a center square surrounded by a lace pattern. This blanket was designed to be pretty easy for my mother-in-law to knit for some great-nephews and nieces. The easiest possible lace pattern combined with garter stitch, seed stitch, and moss stitch.

The pattern was designed originally for Lavold Silky Wool (7 50g skeins) (ecru version), but worked up beautifully in Lily Chin Chelsea (8 50g balls)(pink version), and Bernat Baby Yarn.
