Time for Tea is a crocheted lace capelet reminiscent of vintage bed jackets, but with a touch more elegance. I increased the stitch count dramatically over the first 10 rows to make a ruffle, which creates a flowing, drapey effect over the length of the pattern. I used an open lace pattern over the shoulders and a heavier brick pattern at the bottom half of the capelet. I found that the extra weight of this brick pattern helped increase the drape of the capelet.

The addition of alpaca and silk fibers to the Longwool helps to soften the yarn, create sheen, and add a slight halo around the stitches. Tying the finished capelet around my shoulders feels like true luxury to me, and this capelet is fitting for a night on the town. More commonly, I think it will lend a little sophistication to my afternoons at home with a hot cup of tea. I hope you will enjoy a little warmth and glamour at tea time as well!

This capelet is worked flat in one piece and crocheted top down. A ribbon woven in at the end acts as front closure, which gives you an opportunity to add your own flair. As with most lace, wet blocking brings this capelet to life!
