TINSELITIS is (for me) all about becoming infected with the Christmas spirit, regardless of circumstances. A little bit of infectious joy does us all good – at all times. And I for one, sometimes need to be reminded of that.

Here in New Zealand Christmas falls in summer, so I decided a shawl for the festive season this year, was a good idea. Easy to throw over the neck & shoulders when needed - & easy to fling off, when not! Secretly, I would love to knit & wear a Christmas Sweater, but - “Yeah, nah!” (Kiwi slang/ contradictory term!) So unless things change drastically, for now a fun, festive shawl is my pleasure - & hopefully, yours too!

This generously sized shawl knits up quickly owing to the nature of it’s top down, ever decreasing row construction (like my very versatile Encore Trilogy series of shawl designs).

Because of it’s versatile, crescent shape, Tinselitis can also be worn very effectively as a scarf. So if you enjoy counting backwards, love to knit, purl, work simple eyelets (2 variations), this could just be the pattern you’ve been waiting for!

3 contrasting fingering weight yarns are the basis for the design, and although the original (seen here) included Debbie Bliss Angel, double stranded with King Cole Cosmos (red contrast in photos) these 2 yarns may easily be replaced with a single strand of fingering weight yarn.
