Tiny Baubles Christmas Tree Dishcloth
Bauble: a small, usually spherical ornament made of coloured or decorated material which is hung from the branches of a Christmas tree (www.dictionary.com)
Mine weighs in at 46 gr and measures 9 1/2”W x 9”H. When finished, I had to do some severe blocking to get it to square up!! The bobbles make for an extra ‘scrubbiness’ for this dishcloth. And, as always with picture dishcloths, choose a solid colour yarn for best results.
While making the bobbles is not difficult, getting the technique can be a bit tricky at first, so I would not recommend this pattern for a beginner, unless the knitter is adventurous! Knowledge of cast on, K, P; K, yo, K in the same stitch, K3 tog tbl, sl wyib, and cast off are necessary skills.
Tunie wasn’t so sure about the pattern stitch when she started test knitting this cloth, but by the end of her project, she said that she loved it. I usually knit dishcloths with 3.5mm size needles, but with Tunie’s suggestion, I have booted that up to 3.75, and if you tend to knit with a tight tension, I would move the size up a bit more. That makes knitting the three stitches together so much easier!
Many thanks to Tunie for test knitting, finding my typo and for her suggestions. You are a gem, Tunie!!
