Tiny Foot Sweaters
When my daughter was little - maybe three or four years old - she forgot the word for her socks one morning when she was getting dressed. She came to me, a worried look on her tiny face. “Mama, I can’t find my… my… Foot Sweaters.”
To this day, I often think of socks as Foot Sweaters, and so when I created this small sock pattern I knew I had to honor my learning & growing daughter by giving it the best name for socks I ever heard.
This pattern was created as a teaching tool for knitting students learning the basics of socks. They will make a lovely baby gift or a charming tree trim. Most importantly, they will introduce you to the concepts of a short-row heel and the basic anatomy of a sock. A plain ribbing or twisted rib cuff and the option for a contrast heel and toe give every knitter many possible socks to choose from. With this as a starting point, you can search out more exciting and complex patterns and make a whole drawerful of your own special Foot Sweaters.
