This adorable little lacy snowflake will add charm to any tree, tall or small.

Skill level: Intermediate (3)

Finished size: 2-1/4 to 3 inches, depending on hook and thread used.

Image Info
* FIGURE 1:
Crocheted with thread size 20, hook 1.4mm, hanging thread added in green so it will be invisible when hung on a tree.
* FIGURE 2:
Pictured alongside typical sized ornaments made with same thread and hook (size 10 thread, 1.4mm hook) to show size difference. Note that if you go with the size 20 thread, it will be a bit smaller. The first sample I made measure just over 2 inches.
* FIGURE 3:
Photo of finished product made by another crafter. I liked that they took the picture in someone’s hand -- also gives a sense of how small theirs is.

Any 100% mercerized cotton thread, less than 15 yards

Update 11/28/2023: Corrected first line of “Round 2” instructions to remove erroneous instruction “sl st into first sc”

Update 11/30/2023: In working this pattern for my daughter’s tree, I found the center was coming out larger than I wanted. I remembered (ugh!) that I had started the original sample with a 1.25mm hook, lost that hook, and finished with a 1.4mm hook.

I have changed the dcs in round 1 to hdcs to get the shape I intended using the same hook all the way through. If you prefered the slightly lacier look of the dcs in round 1, I do suggest you go ahead and use dcs, but use a smaller hook for that round than the rest of the pattern.
