This is a crochet pattern for a mini amigurumi turtle. I used polyester velvet yarn, but some of my testers made it with acrylic or blanket yarn. Size will vary depending on yarn and crochet hook size, but some of my testers also used different hook sizes and came up with varying sizes of turtles.

This project was designed to be as easy as possible--I wanted a turtle where I didn’t have to crochet the head or legs or tail separately. Everything works directly into the pattern. The body, legs, and tail work straight into the shell, and the head works straight into the body.

For materials, I used:

Polyester velvet yarn (2 colors—shell color and head/body color) gauge 5
5mm crochet hook
8mm safety eyes
Polyfil
Stitch marker
Scissors
Yarn needle

These turtles work out to be about 3.5 inches long. I didn’t get an exact measurement of how much yarn is needed, but it only used a little bit of yarn for one turtle. You could make multiple turtles with your two colors of yarn (body and shell). These little guys take me about thirty minutes to work up.
