There are many patterns for small baskets available. I couldn’t find a knitted one that was nice and round and would sit properly, so I developed this pattern. Made with scraps of sock or fingering weight yarn and small double point needles, it will add whimsy to your Christmas tree. You can add it to the top of packages or simply give it to a favorite friend.
The basket is started flat with a square to create the base. Stitches are then picked up around the base and knitting continues in the round.
