Tioga Pass
Size 33 (36, 39, 42, 45, 51, 57, 63, 69), size is based on measurements around chest of finished sweater. ½ to 4 inches / 1.5 to 10 cm positive ease is recommended. Sweater is modelled with 1” / 2.5 cm positive ease.
Yarn Light Sport weight yarn, sample used Cloudborn Superwash Merino Sport Twist (100% Superwash Merino Wool, 50 grams/1.8 oz = 200 yards/183 meters).
Note: this yarn is listed as sport weight yarn, but it is closer to fingering weight.
Version 1: Cloudborn Yarn Colors
Yarn A and B (Espresso Heather) – total 475 (550, 600, 670, 715, 860, 950, 1080, 1250) yards / 435 (505, 550, 615, 660, 790, 870, 990, 1145) meters
Yarn C and D (Sky Blue) – total 450 (490, 540, 600, 660, 790, 900, 1040, 1180) yards / 410 (450, 495, 550, 605, 725, 825, 950, 1080) meters
Yard E (Ecru) – 270 (295, 325, 365, 400, 485, 500, 640, 730) yards / 245 (270, 300, 335, 365, 445, 505, 585, 670) meters
Needles US #3 / 3.25 mm or change size to obtain gauge
Gauge 32 sts x 28 rounds = 4” x 4” in 1x1 ribbing stitches alternating 2 yarns by k1 in 1st yarn, p1 in 2nd yarn
32 sts x 28 rounds = 4” x 4” in colorwork stitches
While stitch gauge should be accurate, slightly different round gauge is OK.
Design
- Round yoke with graduate ribbing in plain color.
- Stranded Fair Isle motifs for body and sleeves.
- Charts are provided for 2, 3, 4, and 9 color Fair Isle motifs.
Construction
- Work top-down seamless in the round.
- CO for neck and work 1x1 ribbing alternating 2 yarns of same color.
- Increases within the ribbing section to create round yoke.
- Work Fair Isle motif evenly to underarm.
- Put sleeves on hold and join front and back in the round.
- Continue Fair Isle motif to hem.
- Work 1x1 hem ribbing with alternating 2 yarns of same color.
- Work sleeves in rounds of Fair Isle motif to cuffs.
- Work cuff ribbing alternating 2 yarns of same color.
