Coloursways
A: 4 colours. 374 metres (200 gm): Navy (A); 187 metres (100 gm): Turquoise (B), Oatmeal (C), Green (D)
B: 5 colours 100gm of each (Gold, Purple, Black, Rust, Turquoise). Much easier to change up the colours.

Techniques:
I tried an i-cord where you create a loop so you can keep knitting, and not have to pickup stitches again. Worked well, just don’t freak out about the length of the loops, it felts right down. You can use the standard attached i-cord and then pickup stitches (use a 5 stitch i-cord). Either would work.

The Bags:
I have experimented twice with this bag. The first one I found to be too long and narrow and the handle was too small for my arm to go through comfortably.

So, I made it wider, shorter and longer handle.

Let’s just say I am a person of extremes.

I think the ideal size would be about 225 stitches around (instead of the 252 I used). It is a bit big for a computer.

Instead of 20 stitches between each w&t I would do 10. It would make the slopes more pronounced, as in the rust bag. It will make the bag longer, so the to compensate, the number of rounds could be reduced to 6 or 8 instead of the 12 that I used.

Finally, the handle could be 90-100 rows of i-cord instead of the 160 that I used in the blue bag. And, of course 5 colours so that the handles could be a contrasting colour. Arghh.

I have more wool to try again, but three times, really! I have to move on to other things! But I am a perfectionist, so I am pretty sure number three will appear in 2011 or 2012.

So, here you go, the pattern is free. Experiment and have fun.

Plans: To give it a bit more form I am going to line it, put a zipper and pockets and use it for a computer bag, me thinks.
