Tipsy Granny Trivet
I’ve made a few of these hot pads from memory, but was never able to find a pattern, so I finally wrote it! It uses a super simple granny square, and I walk you through how to join them in an offset way.
If you’ve worked any of my patterns, you already know I do things my own way LOL I use a double crochet join, which may seem unfamiliar. It is truly just doing a double crochet into the top of your first stitch. This puts your hook in the middle of the space, ready to start the next round.
Also, I didn’t list any gauge. If you are using worsted weight cotton, and an appropriately sized hook, it will be the right size. I use either 5mm or 5.5mm when I make them. Using the smaller size is nice because it is just that little bit tighter for using as a hotpad.
Please only use 100% cotton yarn. Any blend or acrylic yarn will run the risk of melting or causing burns.
I hope you enjoy the pattern, and the making of it. I can’t wait to see all the color combinations!
