So, we’ve designed a peaked cap, a bonnet and now here’s the classic baby beanie with legwarmers to match. We are assured that baby legwarmers are A Very Useful Thing indeed, despite Belinda (in particular) thinking they’re the most ridiculous thing she’s ever heard of. Well, nearly.

The Tiptoes set uses an unusual lace / cable stitch and because all the lace holes are made with k2togs the resulting hat and leg warmers spiral gently in a rather pleasing manner. Originally written to be knitted in the round we found the dpns and cable needle (Wendy hasn’t learnt to cable without a cable needle yet!) a tad fiddly, so Belinda re-wrote the pattern to be knitted flat and seamed to save Wendy from a breakdown. Both versions are here though, so you can take your pick on construction.

We’ve collaborated with Town End Alpacas on this little collection of baby / toddler garments and accessories. Town End Alpacas is based up in the North West of England in the heart of the Lake District (hence the names for this mini collection). They produce yarn from their herd of beautiful alpacas in proper alpaca fleece colours and we have to say it’s some of the most gorgeous alpaca we’ve ever used, soft and warm and just as nice as cashmere.

3.25mm and 3.75mm nds, either dpns or circs depending on your preference for knitting small diameters in the round. If using dpns then you will need to have a multiple of 6 sts on each of your working needles. Straight needles are fine if you are knitting flat.
