Tiriaq is a fingerless glove design that can be knitted with or without individual fingers. Cables incorporated into ribbing make these gloves an interesting knit with a flexible fit. Tiriaq means “ermine” in Inuktitut. Wrap your hands in some mink yarn and then wrap them around a ferret!

There are 2 sizes offered, and you can adjust your fit by varying your needle size. For the small size, knit a short tube of 2x2 ribbing on 52 stitches. It should fit comfortably over your hand lying flat. You can adjust your needle size for a better fit. If you are using a finer yarn or have a larger hand, knit a short tube of 3x2 ribbing on 65 stitches to try on for the larger option. Alternatively, the gloves are quick, pick a needle size, get started and try them on as you go!

You can use any yarn from lace weight to fingering, but it is really worth it to use something luxurious. Make sure the yarn you choose have some elasticity. With the suggested yarn, you should be able to get 1 pair of large gloves and 1 pair of small gloves with just 1 skein on 3.25 mm / US 5 needles. Test projects for cashmere yarn is in size small - ~15cm/6in wrist and 20cm/8.25in hand and large - ~19 cm/7.5 in wrist and 24 cm/9.5 in hand, and test project in mink yarn is in size small. Cable design of the gloves is charted only. There are two charts, one for each hand. There are two pdfs, one for size small and one for size large. Each size has an option for a slightly wider palm and is charted respectively for 2x2 and 3x2 ribbing. Each pdf is 5 pages long.
