Titamatorta
Here’s another shawl with a Norfolk name. Titamatorta – a see saw. It’s all about balance, and this triangular shawl balances lace diamonds with stocking stitch ones, and gives me an excuse to play with more words from my childhood.
Titamatorta is knitted from the centre top down and starts from a garter tab. The lace diamonds feature a simple twisted stitch, while the plain diamonds are surrounded by lace holes. Both charted and written instructions are included in this pattern. My shawl blocked to approximately 58cm/23” deep with a span of 116cm/46”, however the final size will vary according to your own choice of yarn and needle, as well as your knitting tension. It can also be made with more repeats if using a finer yarn, or if a larger sized shawl is desired. Up to you!
