These fun socks, inspired by those grand staircases you see in classic cruise liners, are perfect to use up your partial skeins or as an excuse to buy two more.

When you put your feet together a broad stairway leads from the toes to the ankle and then move left and right around the legs surrounded by ribbing balustrades.

The stairs employ an unusual technique for a form of intarsia in the round which involves no cutting or stranding of yarn, and once you get into the rhythm is very intuitive.

You can use any fingering or light fingering sock yarn in two colors. The socks will work well with almost any MC, solid through to wildly variegated, if paired with a solid CC with a strong contrast. Avoid self-striping yarns.
