There are a lot of awesome Yarn Advent Calendars available this year. I know many knitters who have ordered at least one (and as many as 4!!). Some of the calendars include patterns but not all and so Sockvent was born.

Sockvent is a set of 25 individual mini sock designs, each based on our Once You Sock mini sock pattern.

Each day during December we will release a design (chart, lace instructions, other) to make a different mini sock. Each design will contribute to a full set of 25 mini socks that will make up a bunting or that can be added to a Christmas tree or just about anywhere else for decoration!

While the main sock pattern will be shared before Sockvent, each mini sock design will be a mystery until it is released.

Each design will be published separately, estimated 0900 GMT daily. The first design will be released on November 30th to allow people to knit it for December 1st. Each sock will be released the morning before the day it is for.

Some of the designs are available in stitch dictionaries but have been modified to allow for cuff down socks.

The designs are knit. Perhaps next year there will be a crochet one ; )

We have kits of the yarn required (1 each of West Yorkshire Spinners Signature 4 ply in Cayenne Pepper, Chocolate Lime & Milk Bottle) but any single colour yarns or yarns with good contrast can be used.

The knitting time for each sock is estimated to be between 2 and 4 hours so while they may be a little time consuming, it will be possible to complete them in time for Christmas (or just complete the ones you like! : ) )

A little note about Christmas
We celebrate Christmas here at TLYC as a holiday to spend time with family and friends. There is no religious iconography in the designs that will be shared as part of this knit-a-long, with the focus being more on the colours and secular associations of Christmas as celebrated in the UK and Ireland. We intend no offence to people of different, or no beliefs, with the use of the terms of Christmas or Advent.
