A perfect pair of mittens. The 3-colour stranded knitting creates a lovely thick fabric, guaranteed to withstand the snowiest of snowball fights! The subtle ribbing at the wrist cinches in the glove to keep everything secure.

One-size fits all. The pattern has instructions for both the motif and plain versions.

With regard to yarn, the mittens use 1 ball of the 3 main colours to make both; if you are making the plain version, this is all that is required. The motifs use several metres of various colours (meterage is given, some is as little as 30cm). I used whatever yarn I had for this, which was a combination of different brands. So long as all are DK weight, there won’t be a problem. This applies to the 3 main colours too but I would recommend using a yarn that is a wool/acrylic mix as this works best for stranded knitting.

With regard to needles, I used a combination of circular sock needles and DPNs. The whole can be worked on DPNs, or indeed using the magic ring method. This is down to personal preference ☺️

As for the stranded knitting, some familiarity with the technique would be helpful so this is aimed at the intermediate knitter. I would recommend carrying the floats over no more than 4 stitches, otherwise fingernails get caught in them! The pattern has a step-by-step guide to the motif sections.
