This can be worn as a hat, or the top can be opened up so you can wear it as a neck gaiter. The pattern is suitable for a brand new knitter because there is no shaping in the crown and the entire project can be completed on a 16” circular needle. There are eyelets at the top with a drawstring running through them. It’s a great project for using up leftovers.
