This is a pattern for a true alpine cabled scarf (as opposed to Aran cabling, which is the more familiar way of cabling). The knit stitches are knit primarily through the back loop, and although the scarf is not reversible, it is cabled on both sides. It is centered with a turtleneck that will keep you warm in spite of the lighter weight yarn. If you prefer, you can knit it in the traditional method of scarf knitting.
Skill Level: Intermediate - Intermediate + (assuming a good working knowledge of knitting, purling and a very good knowledge of cabling)
The pattern is both written out and charted. There are also instructions for an optional crocheted border, should you like on.
This pattern was professionally tested by The sample was expertly pattern tested by Cathy B, who can be contacted at: hooksandstitcks@gmail.com. . The yarn used in the sample is Shepherd Sport by Lorna’s Laces, in colorway, Miracle Mile.
